CELLULAR REGENERATION (PRP)
A Cellular Regeneration treatment uses the body's own plasma to stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin.
At Medicine of Cosmetics, we offer complimentary consultations for a clinical assessment and to explore non-surgical options. Our experienced team will take the time to understand your goals, assess your individual needs. Safety, professionalism, and evidence-based recommendations are our priorities. Outcomes vary between each individual patient with no guarantee that results will be the same. Every procedure has risks and complications that will be discussed prior to treatment.
Your journey begins with a consultation. Book today for your full assessment.
HOW IS A CELLULAR REGENERATION TREATMENT (PRP) PERFORMED?
Cellular Regeneration Treatment (PRP) is performed by using the patient’s own blood, specially prepared platelets are taken and then re-injected into the area. These platelets release substances known as “growth factors” that lead to tissue healing. By concentrating the platelets we increase the release of growth factors which promotes the growth of collagen and elastin – making the skin smoother, tighter and more youthful.
As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains (and releases through degranulation) several different growth factors and other cytokines that stimulate the healing of soft tissue. The efficacy of certain growth factors in healing various injuries and the concentrations of these growth factors found within PRP are the theoretical basis for the use of the treatment in tissue repair. The platelets collected in PRP are activated by the addition of thrombin and calcium chloride, which induces the release of these factors from alpha granules.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Patients can expect to see significant improvement in skin colour, elasticity, tone and collagen production.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A TREATMENT?
The treatment usually takes an hour and is performed on an ‘outpatient’ basis. Do not take any anti-inflammatory, vitamins/supplements or alcohol one week prior to the injection and for one week after as this may limit the treatment benefits.
Please arrive with no make-up on to each appointment (including post-treatment check-ups).
WHAT ARE THE SIGNIFICANT SIDE EFFECTS?
Although uncommon, the risks include those signs/symptoms associated with an injection including pain, infection, blood clot, nerve injury, skin discolouration calcification, scarring, loss of fat to the area and allergic reaction.
VAMPIRE FACIAL
This treatment uses a small sample of your own blood, which is processed to concentrate the plasma. The procedure is delivered in two stages: our registered nurses handle the blood collection and preparation, and our skin therapist applies the plasma to the skin or scalp using fine micro-needling techniques.
For skin, some patients notice gradual improvements in texture, hydration, and overall appearance in the weeks following treatment. For scalp applications, this procedure is sometimes used to support hair density and scalp health, with some patients reporting gradual improvements over time.
Results vary between individuals, and multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are often recommended. Maintenance sessions may be suggested every 6–12 months depending on your goals and response to treatment.
