Lip Fillers

All You Need To Know About Lip Fillers 💋

Lip Fillers in Adelaide

Lip fillers. By far the most common and controversial treatment of this generation. Although they have been around for decades being used by millions of women globally, in most cases undetected or super subtle, the rise of Kylie Jenner and other celebrities alike – have created a cult like following for big luscious lips. Love it or hate it here are some very important things you need to know when considering lip fillers.

At Medicine Of Cosmetics all of our staff are exceptionally trained to the highest standards. We have 4 Registered Nurses with extensive medical and injectable training with a keen eye for aesthetics and a passion for beauty.

Lip fillers are not permanent. Depending on the type of filler being used they can last anywhere from 3 – 12 months and topped up as required. Filler is made up of a synthetic version of a sugar already found in our bodies which means it naturally metabolises over time. Clients who smoke or exercise heavily may find their filler does not last as long as those who don’t. Drinking plenty of water is also crucial for longevity.

The treatment takes approximately half an hour. At MOC we offer complimentary consultations with our Registered Nurses and you have the option to go ahead with the procedure on the same day if you wish. To help accomodate with pain management clients are offered either numbing cream or a dental block (included in the price of the treatment) and in addition to these happy gas (as an extra added comfort for $25).

Results for lip fillers are almost instant! Swelling and some bruising are very common and should settle within a few days. Depending on the type of filler you and our nurse have decided on small lumps can sometimes be felt but these will also soften. To help reduce any swelling or bruising it is best to avoid certain supplements or medications that thin the blood eg aspirin, fish oils, anti inflammatories etc (please seek medical advice before stopping / starting medication).

We recommend arnica tablets and arnica cream (found in most chemists or health food stores) to assist with minimising inflammation & bruising post injecting procedures such as this.

Whether it be a subtle lip rejuvenation treatment for a more mature skin, alternatively a pretty lip enhancement to revolumise or reshape, right up to completely changing the aesthetics of your face with a plump glamorous pout Medicine of Cosmetics is committed to creating the look you are after. The suggested first dose is usually 1ml and what this does is give you a natural look for you to maintain or build upon, once again depending on your desired look. It is always recommended to come in for a review or a top up in the first few months to see how you are finding your first time with fillers.

For the clients requesting a fuller pout – please note that lip fillers are a process and for the best possible outcome we suggest to build up on the lip slowly over time. This will help you create a high volume yet natural lip.

Lip fillers are one of our most popular treatments here at MOC and our Registered Nurses pride themselves on catering to each clients individual look. Taking into consideration your age, style and budget we will endeavour to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Cosmetic Tattooing

Cosmetic Tattooing – Wake up with Makeup!

Cosmetic tattooing is by far one of our most popular treatments performed here at Medicine of Cosmetics. There are many different types of permanent makeup and we pride ourselves on providing all our clients with a tailor made look and style.

The most sought after cosmetic tattooing treatment would undoubtedly be eyebrows. Eyebrows shape the face and can change your entire look, framing your eyes and editing your aesthetic. Currently the big trend is thick, sculpted brows. If you have fair or thinning eyebrows this is a perfect way to give your face the oomph it needs. Cosmetic tattooing is also a very popular option for people who have lost hair due to sickness.

A fantastic way to take time off your morning routine is getting your eyeliner or lips tattooed. Permanent makeup means you can wake up and not have to worry about applying liquid eyeliner or lipstick. A super natural yet effective way to create an awake and fresh look without doing a thing! Your tattooist will work with you to create a look that will compliment your natural tones and features. Liner can be a natural stroke right up to a cat eye look or lips can be a bold all over colour, just the liner or a pretty blended style.

Some other forms of permanent makeup also include scalp micro pigmentation, which is used for balding or thinning hairlines. This procedure can take years off your look and is starting to become extremely popular especially in men.

Cosmetic tattooing can last up to several years but it is recommended to have top ups as required. At Medicine of Cosmetics we advise a touch up after 4-6 weeks and then again at 1 year. The procedure can be uncomfortable depending on your pain tolerance so we offer all our clients numbing cream. Here at MOC we have created our own great aftercare cream for all cosmetic tattooing and is available in two sizes in store. Alternatively you can grab Bepantham cream from your local pharmacy and it is advised to use this for the week following your treatment.

Once tattooed, they will take a couple of weeks to heal, scabbing off and lightening is very normal and this is why a touch up is recommended.

Our cosmetic tattooists are all qualified and experienced who pride themselves on being absolute perfectionists. They enjoy working with each client to provide a personalised style and look.

Eyelash Extensions

Instant Glamour without Makeup

Eyelash Extensions are fast becoming one of the most sought after beauty treatments globally. After gaining popularity amongst celebrities including Kylie Jenner, Adele and J Lo, it is a quick and non invasive way to create a brighter and more glamorous look without the use of makeup.

At Medicine Of Cosmetics all of our Lash technicians are fully qualified with years of experience in applying both Classic and Volume lash extensions.

Eyelash extensions are applied by using a specially formulated semi permanent glue. Because everyone has different natural lashes, a Lash technician will determine the length and thickness that is in line with the clients desired style but also will not harm their natural lashes.

The two types of extensions performed at MOC are Classics and Volumes. Volume lashes are created by attaching 2 – 4 false lashes to each individual natural Lash. This look is very dramatic and super glamorous. Classic lashes are made up of one Lash extension being applied to one natural Lash, creating a beautiful natural enhancement.

There are many myths surrounding eyelash extensions and there are also a few great after care steps you can take to ensure your lashes stay healthy. It is recommended not to use any mascara and also use an oil free makeup remover over your eyes. Ladies who sleep on their face will probably need refills a little quicker as this can bend your Lash extensions or even cause premature lash loss. The average Lash cycle lasts approximately 90 days and during this period you have dormant stages and also times that your natural lashes will fall out making way for fresh new ones. We recommend refills every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and fluffy but to also maintain optimum Lash health.
